The dictionary definition of word professional is a person engaged in a specified activity as one’s main paid occupation rather than as an amateur.
However at workplace, do we call everyone “Professional” or we get an image of a person with certain characteristic to call a person “Professional”. Few characteristics that we think of are a person who is good at managing time, a person who has awesome dressing sense, or a person who talks just work, etc.
However, after experience I redefine the word “Professional”.
3 Sutras of “Professional”
1.Take Responsibility
As said by John Maxwell “The greatest day in your life and mine is when we take total responsibility for our attitudes. That’s the day we truly grow up”
In movie “Jab we met” when geet was running from home, Shahid said hasi khle Mazak nahi hai zindagi, life mein serious hona padta hai. She says” Kal mein kisiko blame nahi karna chahati, meri life job hi hogi I will be responsible and hence I will be happy”
2. Managing Emotions:
It is easy to display emotions, it is easy to show you are sad when you are. What is difficult is people around aren’t aware of what difficult times you are going through.
Once Sridevi was shooting with Yash Ji at abroad. A scene that she wanted to shoot was to display full of life expressions, she did that beautifully.After long hectic day, Yash ji said it was good performance tomorrow we have another scene. Sridevi said “Tomorrow I would like to go back to India”. Yash Ji couldn’t understand what the matter is. He asked “What happened”. And she said “My father passed away yesterday night”
3.Attitude:
As said “Your attitude is like your Price Tag, it shows how valuable you are.
The best example for this is Amitabh Bachchan.
After the success of Piku, Deepika Padukone kept success bash party where Amitabh was not invited. Reasons are still unknown. When asked deepika she said she missed to call Amitabh Bachan.
When it was to Amitabh “How do you feel. Deepika hasn’t invited you for Success Bash Partty?”
He said “Jo beet gayi so baat gayi
